Who do you think is a better player, Gerrard or Lampard? Lamps scores more goals but Stevie G has a better all round game eg, gets wide and tracks back.

Thanks StevieC - but i have been considering, and I really don't have the guts to drop one. very unlike me. if they were in my 4 aces team I would be searching for some inspirational positional solution to try to suit. Something that would make me seem like a genius. Way to go! Neither has his cutting edge at the moment, quite. The one we know they have. the old combinations would have met the job for them. 2-3-5. Then they would have had choice. Any combination of 8, 10, 4 or 6. Sharpest scoring form 8 or 10. Day dreaming. If you were strangling me for an answer i suppose I would have to go for Gerard. Fantastic 4 or 6.

I have a soultion but it means either dropping Beckham, Lennon or Cole. Proberbly Becks or Lennon. 4-1-2-2-1, wingers pushing up to support Owen, Crouch if nessary. Rooney then comes off the bech and the already tired defenders are completly knackered! A 4-4-2 dimond might also work, gerrard pushed up like Kaka or Totti, behind the strikers, Beks and Lamps in the middle and Owen H behind them. It's very narrow though.

I think they gotta go 4-4-2 standard, England dont really have any good wingers, i think Aaron Lennon is rubbish. Problem though is if you have the big four in the midfield (ie. lamps, gerrard, becks, hargreaves), who can play as a left winger - im pretty sure only downing is any good there.......then who goes onto the bench? England really need a good left winger

Joe cole is first choice left winger even though he's right footed, then downing. Matt Taylor should be called up in my expert () opinion, and Gareth Barry if nessary. Jenas, Dyer, Gerrard or Lennon can all do a job there, and there's David Bentley and Richardson from the Under 21s.

Aaron Lennon is pure class. Just ask hottnott. While Joe Cole, Dyer and Owen have been injured he's been the only player who runs at people, Barry and Downing are crossers not runners and Gerrard isn't even a winger.

I'd say a fully fit English Harry Kewell would create real competion for places because we'd have a left footer other than Ashley Cole. If Shorey or Baines was in the squad every time then he wouldn't be as wanted though.
