"Football Kingdom" Manager to return!Well, as a few of you may know.. a month or so ago I created an online game called Football Kingdom Manager. A football manager game which was pretty basic, but was looking to be okay. I'm going to fix together tons of graphics and make the game make a return in the next day or so. It should run a lot smoother. I'm gonna' need ten teams for each league. You'll be able to read up on how to play when I have the site together. What I need to know now is that who here would like to sign up a team when it opens?
StevieCoppellisaGod
I would... you have my old team, right?
Oldman and Nadji are on holiday
Sir Van Nistelrooy
id be up for it but i havent seen it before
the-bats-boston
Well the only difference is that I'll be trying to make a more original game. So I hate to say it.. but, you'll have to change the name of Reading United II.
the-bats-boston
Scrap that idea, actually.
The rule will be that you won't be able to use symbols or numbers in your Team Names and Stadium Names. You can use real team names, but it would be more fun if they weren't real teams (Reading, Liverpool etc.) or even smaller teams like Aldershot Town and Salisbury City.
I don't mind if you do use real-life teams, but please try not to.
The main thing I don't want to see is "cz_45_cupcakes united" as a team. Haha.
StevieCoppellisaGod
Earley Eagles, then.
the-bats-boston
I would like it if you guys could give me ideas on what you want to have on the game. I'll be making it on Freewebs, but I know a few tricks on there. I don't know too much HTML, so you most probably won't be able to login to an account like other Football Manager games. But don't worry - it'll still be pretty easy to use (and faster for me to make updates, Steve - unlike the last game). You'll have to sign up and have a password etc. As if you were using a login system. But instead you'll just have to fill out small forms to purchase things, and then write your Team Name and Password in it too. (Pretty simple)
So all I need from you guys is some ideas. To start you off maybe, how about.. Transfers, Appealing Red Cards, How match outcomes and stats are determined etc.
Thanks.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
you could have a rating on how good a team is
like say you start off on 500 and a win gets you 10 points a draw 5 and a loss -10 you can change it to be appropiate . this will show how good the teams are
Halifax Town 500 Average team
ilkeston town 545 Good team
Ipswich town 465 Poor team
the-bats-boston
Yeah! I like it. So say your created team started with 500 or whatever the number is. Then if you win you go up to 510, and if you lose you go to 490.
I like it!
StevieCoppellisaGod
Transfers... well there could be a sort of negitation system, with players contacting each other on values, and then when they have both agreed, it could be confirmed?
StevieCoppellisaGod
Oh and course, there'd still be unattached players like in th4aces, but the ones you bought from other teams would generally been better.
the-bats-boston
Yeah. The4aces was my favourite online manager game of all-time (when it started, and there is a lot of other good games out there), so I'll be trying to make it similar to it. I could even include a Dream Team. Each team will have a Profile page, and it'll have stats, news, press releases etc.
I really need your ideas.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
so stick with my rating system aswell as having a normal league but the rating system will benefit in freindly matches. and for the transfers you could have it like an auction type of thing . so you see what players are up for transfer so you no the manager is ready to sell them then other managers put in bids and the manager of the player picks which offer is the best ? and then for players that arent on the market you can bid for them but will probably be turned down by the manger. and you could have disowned players on the market that have been realeased so all you have to do is pay there income and no signing on fee.and you can buy youngsters that are coming through so basically 1st come 1st serve lol
ill have to think of more ideas lol
the-bats-boston
Well if you remember The 4 Aces had a "Scout" page, with brand new youth players. There was the Player Market, with sold players. And there was a World Class part, but that was the Transfer Market just with better players. If I were to use a WC part - then the players wouldn't be from people's teams. They'd be made up and you'd be able to buy them.
Still need ideas. UB? Anyone else?
StevieCoppellisaGod
Perhaps you could include training, where you and your coaches try and improve an aspect of your team. You could do it once per day, which would mean that rather than just letting them improve, like on the4aces, you had to be dedicated.
the-bats-boston
I like it.
oldman
whats the address ill join
the-bats-boston
It's not done yet. I just need everyone's ideas so I can put them together and make the game.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
ah yes and you should be able to hire a physio , first team coach, assistant first team coach , goalkeeping coach, fitness coach, and anymore you want to add in , and you should be able to pick how good you want them to be like for E.g
poor physio= 10,000 year or you could make it shorter for a less amount of time or whatever you can mess with it
average physio = 35,000
Excellent physio= 55,000
and same with coach's and the rest
oldman
u could have scouts
and you could have an email acc on it. stuff liek that
the-bats-boston
Ok. Thanks for your ideas.
I'll take in and consider/build-on any ideas you give me.
Personally I think that Coaches and Scouts will fit in great! How about each player has stats in different areas (Defence, Midfield etc. - or more detailed) and you can increase one stat of one player at a time. For example, if you wanted "Player X" to gain an extra stat in Attack, you'd be able to. But the higher it is, it'd cost you money.
And maybe you could only increase one stat on that player a day, or something.
StevieCoppellisaGod
Yeah, I like that. I think that with better coaches you should be able to increase them slightly more.
the-bats-boston
Yes. I like it!
By the way, I need to start thinking about contructing this game soon, so any final ideas towards it would be greatly appreciated.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
yeh so with the highest coach you will be able to add 2 points or something and depending on how well they play they get skill points which can be used to upgrade their stats and the poorest coach only gets 1 point or something
the-bats-boston
Yeah. Okay, the Stats part seems pretty much sorted now. I now need ideas on different aspects of the game.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
ok well ive gave in most of the ideas and i cant think of anymore ill try to and ill post em if i can
the-bats-boston
Thanks. I'm not meaning to rush you.
I'll try and help too.
the-bats-boston
Right. Good news! The site I'm using (Freewebs) is actually letting me use HTML well. So the site should look a lot more proffessional than a stupid Template they'd limit me too.
StevieCoppellisaGod
How about:
1) A hall of fame, which feature the best managers and their teams-maybe the winners of competions
2) Testimonials for players that have played for you for a long time (perhaps 10 seasons?)
3)A rating system, which gives every player a rating after each match. Perhaps this in turn could then become an average rating for each player.
4) If there's a cup, matches could be decided using a crossbar challenge instead of a penalty shootout.
the-bats-boston
Haha. I love #4! And Stevie - they are some awesome ideas. They could all fit in perfectly. I think that you should also be able to have some realistic type of things like writing Press Announcements, appealing Red Cards, Stadium Upgrades (and not like 4 Aces, I mean like adding Toilet facilities and deciding the size of the pitch etc.), persuading players not to retire (like in FMH). Perhaps even on every Team's Profile page there is an "Inbox" section, with important news and messages from your "Assistant Coach" about injuries, friendly requests etc.
I can try and make all of that happen.
StevieCoppellisaGod
appealing red cards- I think they should only be overturned if if was never a red, which is the same as real life. Seeing as there probebrly won't be a graphic match engine, that's never. Perhaps a 1/100 chance of it being overturned?
the-bats-boston
We'd have to work away of finding out. You might only manage to overtune it if your match is on the "TV Broadcast" that week, and the description states that it shouldn't be a Red.
By TV Broadcast, there will be about two games from the Premier League having their own match report live a week (more if there are games in the week) and occassional games from lower leagues.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
thats sounds difficult to do but if you can pull it off go ahead lol
the-bats-boston
I'll try too.
StevieCoppellisaGod
He doesn't mean a real TV!
the-bats-boston
Did he thought I meant REAL TV?
Sir Van Nistelrooy
no lol i dont expect that much jesus christ
StevieCoppellisaGod
It's just the way you said "That sounds difficult" makes it sound like you were expecting him to hack into the BBC or something
the-bats-boston
Never mind. Maybe it was just a mis-understanding.
Let's get back on track (before Joe Harris comes back and joins in).
Right, I should be able to start some work on some graphics for the game soon. But here is a question, considering that you'll be playing it; how do you want the games on "tv" to be broadcast?
Should there just be writing (similar to the Live Text on BBC.com)?
Maybe the odd picture?
Commentators?
I could try and make as much out of it as possible - instead of just a match report.
(And by the way - this isn't for EVERY game, it's just for the ones selected for the "TV Broadcast".)
Sir Van Nistelrooy

like a big weekend of the top four or something man utd , chelsea , arsenal, liverpool ?

I HATE Grand Slam Sunday!
Text like the BBC live report, but with commentators reading it out like in FM would be good. And like in FM, choosing Key/Extened/Whole Match would be good.
the-bats-boston
I could try both of those things.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
grand slam sunday's are awesome
StevieCoppellisaGod
They're just oriantated around the TV, not around the fans!
the-bats-boston
He has got a point. I hope that it gets ruined next season because Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool or Man United mess up and have an awful run.
Anyway - game wise, I'll be trying out some different styles for the homepage soon.
I'll keep you all posted.

They're having one this season (relatively speaking).
the-bats-boston
Yeah but I still think they'll be in the top four at the end of the season. Unless Ramos can turn the Spurs season around and upset Chelsea at the weekend. And maybe give Arsenal a beating in the cup.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
nah i dont think so top 4 will stay the same .
StevieCoppellisaGod
The question is though, do City have enough quality? With the exception of Petrov and possibly Richards and Elano, none of their players would get in the Liverpool team, whereas pretty much all Liverpool's players would get in City's team.
the-bats-boston
Exactly.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
obviously other wise city would be higher than liverpool lol ?
the-bats-boston
They have been this season. And they did get a 0-0 draw with them.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
oh i think man city have improved quite alot this season . playing really well
the-bats-boston
Yes they have. Anyway - getting back to the subject of Footie Stars Manager, or whatever name I give it. I think we're good to go and I shall start building the site at the weekend. If you have any ideas, then by all means post them. But they'll all have to be in by the weekend. (Or Friday night would help)
oldman
you can place a bid into someone elses team if you like one of there players and they can reject accpet or ask for more
StevieCoppellisaGod
I think we covered that There's just one small problem- you'd get people cheating to get more money.
City were one of th worst teams in the league last season, frankly I'm suprised they stayed up.

Charlton had Darren Bent, that alone should be enough to keep you up. same for Watford and Marlon King. City had about 6 strikers and I think they scored 9 goals between them.

lol thats poor

I meant the cheating bit.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
how wud u cheat neways lol ?
the-bats-boston
That's what I'm trying to find out.
the-bats-boston
Oh and by the way - on the game I might be able to include some cool features like being able to change the length of your pitch, inviting a team to be "rivals" (like Spurs/Arsenal, and you'd have a traditional pre-season game - a lot of benefits from that). I'm also thinking of having a section where manager's can release press announcements.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
sounds good
StevieCoppellisaGod
cheating- people would register a lot of teams, then buy a bunch of rubbish players for loads of money and sell their best players for free. Result- one team has a lot of cash and good players.
the-bats-boston
Firstly - I think there is a way of me finding out which IP's send the registration form. So they would need to have a different computer for each team, and always use THAT computer to make edits to their team.
And there probably won't be many teams in it. I may stick only to two small leagues. If teams are inactive at the end of the season, they'll be deleted.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
pretty sad if they buy more computers lol
the-bats-boston
Exaclty my point.

2 words- proxys. Oh wait, that's one.
You can download a thing that changes your URL. It makes you announomous, lets you register more than once on one computer, and allows you to get onto blocked sites at school.
(Well it does if they don't block the proxy website)
A proxy site- click me!
Sir Van Nistelrooy
using dat at school nice one stevie lol
StevieCoppellisaGod

At my school it's blocked. 5Works at Nadji's though.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
i hope it works at mine
the-bats-boston
It is unlikely this will happen because there is only twenty places available. Also, don't forget that I'll be reading all of the transfer offers, and if one team keeps transfering players for stupidly low prices, I will become pretty suspicious. Besides, this could happen on every single Manager Game in the world, and they always manage to be caught somehow.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
hell have his eye on you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! whoever cheats
the-bats-boston
| Sir Van Nistelrooy wrote: | hell have his eye on you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! whoever cheats |
Lol, exactly. I mean - normal manager games have thousands of players, and they don't have to read every transfer. I'll be having twenty teams or so, and it'll be easy to spot.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
yh lol . Hell still have his eye on . So watch out , the bats about !
the-bats-boston
Well they were about! Until The 4 Aces shut down. The second ever winners of the White League!
the-bats-boston
I need any last ideas from you all. I start work on the site a little later on, and will be making a navagation bar.
StevieCoppellisaGod
Suppose you're right
If you are going to be making every player, couldn't you give them special recrods? (Think ICT here- I mean data!). for example, they could have things like Favourite Player- and whoever they say, they play like (though it will have to be someone in their position).
for example, if they're a centre back and they say John Terry, then they go into tackles heavily and generally act like a brick wall. However, if they say Rio Ferdiand, they're a more skillful player who carries the ball out of defence. It would make sense if they matched their nationalities- so a Rio Ferdiand who was Argentine would say Gabriel Millto, and if they were from Spain they'd say Sergio Ramos, etc.
the-bats-boston
Yeah I like that. But what will probably happen is that you'll be able to select sixteen player names when you sign up. So maybe there could also be a box so that you could describe what the player tends to play like.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
yh sounds good
StevieCoppellisaGod
Make that WHO they play like and you've got a deal.
the-bats-boston
You couldn't do it in 4 Aces and I don't think it's really needed. You'll have to describe it - which might even be easier.
oldman
say you have to have subs coz on the4aces you wpuld never have an injured player if you had no subs
Sir Van Nistelrooy
cool i never new that
the-bats-boston
Well it doesn't make much difference now, does it?
And I've started creating some parts of the game in HTML. Ooohh..
StevieCoppellisaGod
On that note, if one of you're player's are injured, you should be able to say in advance who you want to sub on. On the4aces, sometimes your keeper would be brought on if you're midfielders were injured
Sir Van Nistelrooy
yeh my keeper scored a hatrick because my 45 million player got injured
StevieCoppellisaGod
Haha. It was a striker right?
the-bats-boston
Yeah of course you will. You'll be able to pick around five subs, but it would be advised to have one in each position.. then it'd be common sense for me to bring them on for you. I also remember in The 4 Aces that I kept playing my multi-million pound Goalie up front, and eventually I sold him and he was put down as a Striker on the Player Market.
Also: for Footie Stars Manager (this game) I need to know who is probably going to join and your team names. (I might be able to build your team's profile in advance). And remember to copy and paste this form from the last person to use it.
