Australian IdentityG'day again guys, in my English class the current research/study topic is "Australian Identity" and we have been going through alot of Australian stereotypes and other identities surrounding Aus.
As I was in class I was faced with a small task in which I was to brainstorm 5 images that represent Australian culture as well as write a small paragraph of what I believed to be true Australian identity. Whilst I was doing this I thought to myself, how would my international forum buddies answer the same question? and would their views and stereotypes of Australia be similar to mine?
If it's not too much trouble I'd like everyone to attempt to brainstorm 5 dot point images of Australia culture, to get an insight into Aus from abroad
For example:
-Kangaroo
-
-
-
-
Any response would further help me in my ongoing studies in this topic. Don't be afraid to be as stereotypical or as neutral as possible.
Thanks in advance

Barbecue./ Beer/ Bonhommie
Sporting heroes/ undenied winning personna. Openly ultra competitive.Hard & fair
Waltzing Matilda - Independent no bull-s*** attitude. Don't mess with me.
Probably the most popular and envied life attitudes today.
Sociable, friendly, in your face straight up -tell it as it is. A great deal of the best anglo-saxon characteristics in their mix.
Stouthearted. ( give me some men who are stouthearted men, who will fight for the right they adore. Start me with ten , who are stouthearted men, and I'll soon give you ten thousand more.)
You can see why we love to beat them whenever we can!!

I was half way through when my interenet shut down, most of the stuff had has been said though.
Djourydoo, abouringes, hot, Sydney is the capital (most people think), kiwis (if your goegraphy isn't good), little brown things that spin around really fast (if you watch too many cartoons), dingos, snakes, crocs etc. the other day I heard someone pretending to be an ozzie, this is what they siad:
"G'day mate, here in the bush we got a great range of snakes, from the common garden snake to the GREAT.WHITE.SHARK!"

I don't know where he not that from
25% of austrlians playing in the premiership are quite fat (Mark Viduka), which dosn't help a general picture of auastaralians having BBQs every other day...

I just ahd a good one- walking around on hands doing everything upside down!
|
hottntott

No - they are upside down at the moment, hanging from their feet. On their hands they would be the right way up.
