Ben ThatcherBen thatchers tackle was bullshit, he has been sacked by the club but i dont think that is punishment enough. he should be reported for assault.
What are your opinion on this subject?
Anyone a Man city supporter?

I'm a Newcastle supporter, but I think it was a terrible foul, but worse fouls happen in lower leagues all the time and nothing happens about them, Its just because its in a higher league that everyone is talking about it.
However it was unacceptable for a professional player and he deserves whatever he gets.

Compared to other sports its not really that bad, but in the game of football its alot different. Not only was the tackle unacceptable it was unnecessary in the context of the game.

i think ben thatcher thought: "dam b*tch scored a brilliant goal against us last season to keep pompey up, might aswell get him back". still a disgraceful tackle

When I saw it happen, i thought it was unbelievable, and that he should never play football again. There was no tackle called for, Mendes was looking the other way and did not see it coming so he was unprotected. Could have been killed. I know Thatcher has history, but WHY did he do it?

he is an idiot for dat, also he did it 2 some poor kid a few years ago, his face swelled up to the size of a football, it was a similar tackle to mendes

hottntott

I think we all agree on that one. Obviously you are all good sportsmen. That really pleases me. Cheers.

ben thatcher is a god any man that has the guts to go against the world and make himself a marked man through football must have what it takes to be the only god on earth atm.

Ben ThatcherAh yes. Was that the Elbow of God then? Keep on praying on.

the ref did not even send him of

I cant comment as i havn't seen the foul. It wasn't a tackle, a tackle is an attempt to win the ball, this was a fight (from what i've heard)
|
hottntott
|
No - no fight. One man was looking the other way at the ball, Ben Thatcher went for assassination and very nearly succeeded. Never seen anthing quite like that before - surprised he is still playing.

StevieCoppellisaGod

i didn't mean it that way. maybe "murder atempt" would be better

Just about - someone could die that way, if they do not know it is coming.

Ben thatcher 2.0before people say "why have you re-opened an old topic", i thought that keith Gillespie's (yes I said pie on purpose, i was trying to be random) 2 and a bit second sending off was worth bringing up here. It was a bad as thatchers only hunt wasn't running so didn't hit gillespes elbow as hard as mendes did.
and before you say it was 10 second, the foul occured after 2 and a bit seconds, ref blew on 4, he was sent off on 9 and a bit after the ref had a talkj with his lineman that seem to take ages from the stand.

Hunt probably should just ease it back a bit generally. Its just that fine line between playing hard and being dangerous. Even when theres no intent, theres no point in scoring a goal but paralysing the goalkeeper, which, as it happens is the bone i pick with Rugby, especially where kids are involved. Don't get me wrong - its a great spectacle - but a life spent in a wheel-chair with movement only in one little-finger makes it not worthwhile. Ben the beast is back - hez has got him now - we used to have him - I didn't like it then. Get the excuses ready Hez.

hottntott, that's just really got on my nerves. Hunt has picked up 2 bookings in 2 years for us. he hasn't been injured in that time or suspened (obviously). Hunt had every right to go for the ball, and if there hadn't been as much surface water on the pitch that day then Cech would have hit Hunt's back leg and broken it. Then no-one would have heard of Stephen Hunt (well execpt the Leeds fans, there still annoyed Hunt scored against them to keep them down last year). The water made Cech move much faster than useally, and he collided with the second fastest player on the pitch behind Robben. Live, it looked like Hunt had jumped over him and Cech was making a meal out of it. On the replay, it looked like Hunt brushed past him and Cech got knocked out banging his head on the ground. He didn't spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair only moving a finger, he was walking in a week. He can play football now, against Peter Crouch no less, and with Essien as one of his centre backs . AND THE WHOLE THING WAS A PURE ACCIDENT YOU STUPID *@$*@$* (nice pattern that)
Since then, Hunt has scored 2 goals and set up an own one, got booked once (his second ever one for us), had jens Lehmann have a go at him FOR WALKING NEAR HIM NO LESS, recieved death threats from idiots-also known as Chelsea fans-which he managed to shake off, and now he's been attacked by Gillespe for little or no reason. What a goal for the third, I might add, and a good celebration. He's a marked man for life, every time he goes in a penalty area or makes a fair tackle, the opposition fans boo him and occaisionally even the refs gang up on him. he's such a player, full of skills, not dirty in any extent of the word.
I met him, just over a year ago. He came to my school as part of the Royals Road show. I got spotted whering my Reading shirt, and photed with him. it was put in the local paper. he's the one who goes to all the stuff like that. anyway, he signed autographs for 500 kids (twice for some, one got 23!), and then came to watch the school team train. Don't tell me that he's a dirty player or anything, aaron Lennon is far worse, and that's saying something!
|
StevieCoppellisaGod
|
so stop having a go at him all the time
|
hottntott
|
No you got me wrong. Did you read my post. I like Hunt and never suggested that he was dirty. I just said that, having seen him this season, I think his game would benfit from the slightest adjustment when going in. Perhaps the teeniest bit wild at times?? You see more of him, but i certainly was not being hostile, and i was talking about any goalkeeper in such circumstances. You are confusing me with some other swine.
