Carling CupWhat are all of your predictions for the Carling Cup honours this year? Chelsea? Already are 2-1 up over Everton. Everton? An away goal could be vital. Spurs? Good first half against Arsenal. It's half time incase your wondering. Arsenal? They've done it before.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
im goin 4 arsenal
the-bats-boston
They got a 1-1 draw with THE MIGHTY SPURS! C'mon.. you Spurs! Lol soz. Anyway, did Walcott punch it in the back of the net?
Sir Van Nistelrooy
i didnt see it
StevieCoppellisaGod
Paper doesn't say so.
Berbatov was class though.
PS If Reading Reserves can get a 2-2 draw against Spur's first team, surely so could Arsenal
Sir Van Nistelrooy
did they ?
StevieCoppellisaGod
Yes... it was on Saturday. Reading reservves ainst Tottenham's first team, FA Cup. Replayat the Mad Stad soon, winner plays ManUre at OT.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
yup come on u Reds !
the-bats-boston
Important clash, that. And I think it hit his arm as he chipped Cerny. Even the commentators questioned it. Talking of Cerny, he should be a first team regular, he pulled off some brilliant saves last night.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
did he play really well then ?
the-bats-boston
Yup. Better than flappy Robbo.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
lol robo aint tht good he shoudlt b england's 1st team keeper james shud
the-bats-boston
He's doing what James did. Turn bad, maybe leave Spurs and suddenly become great again.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
yh he's probz having a bad spell he might be depressed lol
StevieCoppellisaGod
Green's been great this year.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
yeh makes some great saves

Sir Van Nistelrooy

Lol more of the last one that the first
the-bats-boston
Well done, Green. That's what.. three? four games?
Sir Van Nistelrooy
lol wow you can count
the-bats-boston
I can count to sixteen!
Sir Van Nistelrooy
wow go you . i can count to 100 in german
StevieCoppellisaGod
He's saved four penalties- that's no mean feat.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
well kinda i think hes better than carson i think green is 6th choice for england
StevieCoppellisaGod
Sixth choice?
James, Robinson, Carson, Kirkland AND Foster all ahead of him? You're joking.
Kirkland is never going to be an international keeper
Robinson's been awful all season.
Foster's been injured and isn't that good anyway.
Carson had a howler on his England debut!
(or are you including Cudicini and Almunia in there?)
Sir Van Nistelrooy
for england ? doubt it lol . and im not joking hes seriosuly sixth choice
the-bats-boston
Steve has a point, SVN. And I know from being a Spurs fan that Robbo is pretty much out of the picture as far as number one, even number two keeper goes.
You never know, Cappello might find some young keeper from somewhere and train him up. Now that would be interesting.
the-bats-boston
| Sir Van Nistelrooy wrote: | | for england ? |
One word: sarcasm.
StevieCoppellisaGod
Joe Hart.
No, seriously, Almunia and Cudicini can actually play for England as they've lived here for a long time and they've never been capped for their own countries. Same with Kasper Schmichel.
Ok, James, Hart and Almunia have played as well as or better than Green this season. Almunia may not want to play for England, and Hart's pretty inexperinced.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
i think it was on match of the day they said about joe hart and they sed come back when hes 24 and hell be amazing
i think green personally is better than sixth choice but thats what they said would be sixth choice
StevieCoppellisaGod
| Sir Van Nistelrooy wrote: |

Um, no, you said he was sixth choice. Not "Match of the Day said he's sixth choice". Really what matters is what Capello thinks, and Cappello will bas his choice on this seasons form. Green's form>Robinson's, Carson's, Foster's and Kirkland's, and roughly equal to James'.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
robinsons and crason aint anything great for me its betweem green and james
StevieCoppellisaGod
You went back on yourself again...
the-bats-boston
I don't mean to sound rude - but I don't think SVN EVER has any idea what he's on about.
StevieCoppellisaGod
Are you by any chance a googlebot who enters random letters SVN?
the-bats-boston
Hahaha!
StevieCoppellisaGod
Damn Robbie Keane (ok it's the FA Cup but hey)
Sir Van Nistelrooy
ggkjghimkstijhkjfgjiojs ?
that would be a google bot
the-bats-boston
There is only onneeee.. Robbie Keano!
Unlucky there, Stevie.
Spurs are off to Old Trafford, in what will be a VERY tough game. But hey, at least we can win the treble.. (Premiership, Uefa and Carling).
StevieCoppellisaGod
Surely you have more chance of beating Man U than winning the Premiership?
Sir Van Nistelrooy
Treble ? doubt it tottenham are out of the premiership race . i gotta top man utd after the newcastle performance on winning it
the-bats-boston
It's obvious that Spurs won't win the title, but they still CAN win it.
StevieCoppellisaGod
You also CAN win the FA Cup.
the-bats-boston
But we don't HAVE to beat Man U to win the Prem. It would help, but we don't HAVE to.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
your all sounding very familiar , ah thats it like my history teacher , he always uses IF the world war didnt happen , and we didnt HAVE to invade so and so
so annoying
StevieCoppellisaGod
You don't have to beat them, but you have to hope other teams beat them for you. United aren't in very good form, Everton et all could beat them easily ATM. I'm slightly dissapointed Reading couldn't get a draw, we certainly deserved it.
the-bats-boston
Well if teams like Reading did get draws with United - Ramos' job of taking the title would be that bit easier. As long as we keep getting 2-0 wins like yesterday, I think we can finish in the top half.
the-bats-boston
SPURS 5-1 ARSENAL (6-2)
StevieCoppellisaGod
Well done!
Sir Van Nistelrooy
yes well done because he played in the game and scored didnt he
it makes me laugh how people refer to chelsea as weve got man utd in 2 weeks or something like that as if their in the team lol
your friends do that ?
the-bats-boston
Yeah but I guess we are apart of the club (whatever team we support) because without us fans, they wouldn't have much money. And without us, they wouldn't have support week in and week out. So really we are apart of the team (obviously not the starting 11).
StevieCoppellisaGod
2 things. 1, it's !a part" of the team, wouldn't have pointed it out but you did it twice. Second, Chelsea would have a shed load of money without their fans.
the-bats-boston
Yes they would. But us fans make them even more money.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
id say that it only goes for league one and down about the fans thing but any above its basically the chairman that provides money
the-bats-boston
Well where do they make their money from? If they weren't selling tickets, merchandise and so on in which teams sell at Home Games, then all they're going to get money from is sponsers. They'll have to pay for maintenence, wages, travelling to Away games and so on. Fans = money.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
think bout the premiership teams they all realy on the chairman mostly to provide money ,not the fans . the fans help but not a great deal
the-bats-boston
They help a huge deal. Because if the Chairman provides all of the money, is he expected to keep magically bringing in money? He will run out eventually, and will rely on the fans to keep buying tickets. Because if on average a team's weekly income is higher than expenses, then they'll be making profit. In the short run, a billionaire chairman is fine. But without fans, in the long run the team will go bust.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
abrohamivic ,glazier , and probably many more have lots of other companies providing money so they dont need fans
the-bats-boston
Yeah that's just a few clubs, isn't it? So basically you're saying that we don't need fans because about five chairmans are billionaires? What about other Premiership teams like Everton? Spurs? Reading? And especially as you go further down the divisions - we need fans or we wouldn't be getting ANY income (except for sponsers).
Sir Van Nistelrooy
as i sed in other posts championship and above will have toher income that you dont no about , and the bottom half of championship and lower into division 1 and the rest do rely on fans
the-bats-boston
EVERY TEAM rely on fans. Trust me.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
trust you ha you make me laugh
the-bats-boston
Anyone want to input here? The way the business works is that you pay for wages, maintanence etc. and the way you make money is through the fans and sponsers. Without fans, you wouldn't sell tickets, merchandise, food & drink - and so on.
It's an obvious fact that every true football fan should know.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
how do you no then and every team doesnt rely on fans
StevieCoppellisaGod
The only clubs in England who would be fine without any fans are Chelsea, Man City, and Villa. If Roman gave Chelsea all his money in his will they'd so self sustained. It's similar with City, but a lot of Shinawatra's cash is dodgy. I'm pretty sure Lerner is rich enough too. Oh, and QPR of course.
What you say about Glazer is rubbish though- he has NO money, he got a loan of over £500 million to buy Man U and United won't have a penny until he gets his 500 million out of them. He didn't use all of it to buy Man U however- he saved some for transfers and to pay back the first few months of repayments. Basically, if Man U go down, they're screwed.
I know more about Championship and League 1 football than you SVN, so don't say that they have "ways" of making money Freddie doesn't know about. Sponsorship, prize money and TV rights are the only ways I can think of that don't need fans. No company will sponsor a team with no fans. You need cash to get prize money, or else be very lucky, and TV rights only really apply in the premiership.
the-bats-boston
Exactly. Without fans, you're pretty much done for.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
unless your havant and waterlooville
StevieCoppellisaGod
Havant and Waterlooville have fans. They also don't need to pay players as much (that's why they all had jobs)
the-bats-boston
Yeah but it still works the same.
They pay less wages.
They pay less stadium maintanence.
They earn less money from fans.
They earn less money from sponsers.
They barely ever get on TV. (with an exception)
StevieCoppellisaGod

StevieCoppellisaGod
I like the way you said 2with an exception".
the-bats-boston
Why? Is that wrong?
StevieCoppellisaGod
No, it's just... I don't know!
the-bats-boston
Ok then.
StevieCoppellisaGod
I've just realised... if Spurs beat Chelsea, Reading are in Europe!
England are top of the European Fair Play League. Therefore, we will get an extra UEFA cup spot if we stay top. That spot goes to the team who have the best fair play record in the league who haven't qualified for Europe. If Spurs win the League cup final, then they'll qualify for europe, and we'll be the highest placed FP team!
We could've been in Europe tis year, but the club said no... (Intertoto Cup)
Sir Van Nistelrooy
im confused , any1 else ?
the-bats-boston
Yeah that makes sense Stevie. Tottenham are pretty much in Europe now. If we beat Chelsea, we're in. If we lose, then we're most probably in because Chelsea should get a Champo League place.
Sir Van Nistelrooy
yes im not the only who thinks knows tht makes no sense
the-bats-boston
SVN, I said it DOES make sense.

The Mighty Spurs. Glory, Glory, Tottenham Hotspur.
