Season 08-09 general topic- sponsored by the Middle East.Man City have been taken over. Kevin Keegan's resigned from his post at Newcastle to great uproar. Alan Curbishley has also walked. And that's just the Premiership. In the Championship, Wolves look like running away with it, but Brum, Reading and Charlton won't let them do that without a fight. League 1 is intriguing- the likes of Leicester and Leeds should walk the league. Finally, League 2. Luton sit at the foot, with minus 30 points. Bournemouth have already lost Kevin Bond (though may I say his successor is a brilliant manager who should be managing in the Champions League ), and Aldershot are in the Football League for the first time since they went bankrupt.
And that's just England. In Spain, Barcelona have a new-look team, but will it be enough to catch Madrid, who look stronger despite missing out on Ronaldo? Valencia have held on to David Villa and David Silva, but for how long? Athletico have strengthened too- the major new signing is Gregory Coupet, the great French 'keeper.
Italy. Milan look screwed. Despite adding Ronaldinho, Zambrotta, Shevchenko, Sendoros, and Flamini, the are struggling. Can they win anything? Inter look a bit brighter, and Juve seem to have finally bounced back. Lazio currently sit top (albeit after two games!) largely thanks to Goran Pandev. Not forgetting Fiorentina or Roma, of course.
We'll ignore France because everyone knows who'll win that.
The German league has certainly got stronger. Bayern have bought only one senior player- Schiener of the national team (right winger). Then there's Hamburg (lost Kompany and VDV but have signed a lot of players), Schalke, Bremen (both have only got better), and Wolfsberg, who have signed Italy internationals Barzaghi and Zaccardo.
Oh, and there's Scotland.
