goalkeepers have to swear sometimes to get the defenders to listen, I should know as I used to play in goal when I was at school.

I do understand what your saying though, its not really suitable for children who are behind the goal, and can hear every word.

Actually - mostly it was when they dived full length and ended on their chest with the ball in the net - and really they were more or less mutterring to themselves.

They hate being beaten.

yeh they swear at that too, not me though, I play for fun I dont care if we win or lose, I just try my best and try to enjoy myself, I swear at the defenders sometimes when theyre not staying back in defence but if I concede a goal I just get on with the game, nothing I can do after its gone in.

It was really irritating when there were two opponants forward and none of the defenders were getting back, I made about 7 saves and knocked the ball out for a corner, they took a quick corner and no-one ran back to defend I made about 5 more saves then they scored. I swore quite a bit at the defenders then. All that work making about 12 saves then they scored

It is a thankless task - every mistake is a big disaster - unlike the other ten, who can have a good game with one decent shot. Great goalkeepers have to be nutters I think. Who else would head-butt the goal posts and dive down at flying boots.
