Uh hmm, nice topic
I suppose it goes as follows:
Exclusion (kicked out of class), After school detentions AKA Wednesdays, Suspended suspension, Suspension(Day off school ) and if you get a certain amount of suspensions in a year you are Expelled.

Well I goto college now, we don't really get punishments, we've had the deputy head of the college in our class a few times though as the IT students are the worst behaved in the whole college . were also close to getting two of our lecturers (teachers) sacked, and our tutor has threatened to quit as our tutor.

cool, getting 2 of your teachers sacked... well, maybe not great for them but hey... nadji, what do you mean by suspended suspenision?
for me it would be... well not really anything, I never get punished
It would be 15 minute detention which you have to do that day, letter home and a detention of half an hour or more, report card (which you have to get signed by all your teachers every day and then any punishments get doubled by your head of year), withdrawal (being locked in a small room for the rest of the school day), saturday detention for 3-5 hours, exclusion, an if you get more than 50 detentions in 5 years you get expelled. after that you get imprisionment and the death penalty. That's about it.

Suspended suspensions are quite rare actually, it's kind of like a warning suspension but no real action is taken.

I said we were close to getting two of them sacked, none of them have been yet, but the one that is closest to being sacked is up infront of the deputy head tomorrow facing disceplinary procedures, he has to convince tony (dep head) not to sack him, yey.
david (the one who is closest to getting sacked) is an ok teacher its just that he can't control anyone in my class.

Is college the English equivalent of an Australian University?
|
StevieCoppellisaGod

colldge and uni are pretty much the same thing over here, university is normal considered harder work though. If you want to go to university, it's proberbly best to do m2 years extra school as they look at your A levels not just GCSEs. All of that could be wrong, but that's just what I gather.

england have university as well, primary school (age 4-11 i think) then comprehensive school (posh places call it high school age 11-16)
then 16+ is college which is optional, and if you do well enough in college you may get into a university if you want.

primary school is 5 to 11 but you can start a month or so before your 5th birthday. down here we call comphrehensive school "secondary school", like you said 11-16, but there's an optional 2 more years called 6th form (years 12 and 13), but if you drop out you can either go to colledge or start work, after that your basiclly the same

Uhuh I see thankyou Australian schooling goes a little like this:
Primary school: 5 to 12 years old
High School: 13 to 18 years old
University or Job: 18+ years old

So far my teacher hasn't been sacked lol, oh well time will tell, he tried to put us in a seating plan today so about 5 people got up and walked out, he had to get our tutor to sit in the room with us all so nobody else left, lol
