The National Union of Teachers (the NUT) is going on striker because they want better pay. Anyway, who cares. I'm getting a day off school. Are you?

My college is still on, they've just cancelled additional things such as catch-up lessons etc... because of shortage of staff, because most colleges (unlike schools) are made up of staff from several unions, so they hardly ever need to close because of a strike.

Anyway, I dont goto college on thursdays or fridays anyway

Most of the schools in my area are open. My brother and my cousins are going to school. Some schools are taking some years but not others, and some people have half days, etc.

All of the schools around ours is off for the day but ours is still on. I heard they almost went on strike.

we had a day off thursday

they closed because its illegal for them to be substituted , so if 5 or more teachers are in the union that are striking ,the school closes, secondary school's have the union that striked mostly , primary have the other union of teachers , so that may be why younger brothers/sisters may of been at school

My school keeps having extra days off. Last year we had a day off due to a gas leak, a day off because the water failed and a day of due to flooding. This year we've had a day off due to flooding, 2 because the electricty was fault, one because the heating was broken and the strike.
